Good morning folks and happy hump day. Well its the day after Bieber Fever - did Ottawa survive? Is it safe for me to leave my humble abode and drive into the city?

Good Morning Angel, Mr. E., DeVil, Mr. Red, pharmerphil, Stephanie, Pitchingin, Betty Anne, Connie, Melmuff, tulip, sweetdreams, reggae, J.P., Typhoon and everyone.

May experience bonus code withdrawal as there are no hourly codes today. On the plus side I don't have to listen to Carter talk about his miraculous green vegetable bags. :-)

Good afternoon all ...

Does this code still work?: xbox

MelMuff said...

@ Mr. E. - No, it didn't work for me.

Mr. E. said...

Thanks, MelMuff. KISS must have pulled it earlier than usual.

MelMuff said...

@ Mr. E. - You're quite welcome. Too bad it doesn't work still. I would have liked to have been part of that draw.

Out of curiosity, how many points was the code for? I heard them make the draw this morning on the radio.

Hello everybody, would it be possible to post the y101 nansense bonus code here?? THANKS!!!

Angel said...

@Sweetdreams

If anyone has the Nansense bonus code, of course they can post it here (I'll then post it on the front page of the Y101 blog). I listened from 4pm to 6pm and Linda did not give out a bonus code. She usually gives it between 2 & 3 and then once again just before 6pm.

It was worth 2500 pts. The funny thing is that I had guessed it around 5:30pm yesterday but it didn't work! So I figured they were back to using the serialized "compound" codes.

When we got back last night it was nearly midnight and I was exhausted and hit the sack (that walk from the stadium to Terry Fox is a lot longer than it would seem and took its toll).

Mrs. E. entered the code last night for us while I dozed but must've passed the "fever" on to my computer as it's been effectively out of commission today, causing me to forget to return three library books on time and missing the fair tickets on Chez by 5 minutes (grrrrr!). My usual backup plan of having her try to get the fair tickets at work fell apart too as she decided to take a long lunch today, only phoning me back after 1pm (double grrrrr!).

That's very strange for an onsite bonus code to expire so quickly (much less than 24 hours in this case). The draw should have been scheduled for tomorrow. Do you remember what time they did the draw? (Not that it really matters now!)

Y101 has their phone set to perma-busy so I guess Glennis is pre-recorded.

Tip: The best thing to do if you don't hear a Y101 bonus code in the early afternoon is to phone in and ask for it (well before 6pm). I've done this a few times.

How was the concert & the KISS party in the private box?

Thanks for letting me know. 2500 points, not bad! I'm glad you got to enter the code in time. They announced about 8:15am that they would be making the draw shortly & to expcet some OMG's & screaming. So at that point I tuned into Chez & decided my ears had had enough of that from the day before so I never actually heard the winner on air.

I hope you got your computer fixed. What are you reading?

The private box was quite nice. It's probably the only time I'll ever get to watch an event from that vantage point so from that standpoint it was a great experience.

The box itself was owned by Bayshore Shopping Centre. They ordered several pizzas for us to munch on, plus they had big plates full of kettle chips and nacho chips, dips, a big bucket of popcorn, plus whatever soft drinks you wanted (hard drinks cost extra, e.g., beer = $7.50!). Of course, none of that stuff is good for you but it was free! Unfortunately, nobody from KISS showed up, but there were probably about 12 or so of us there.

On the downside, these are actually 400-level seats so although you get a good view of everything, it is a very distant view. (For Roger Waters, I think I would prefer to keep my 300-level seats rather than swap!) The sound was just fine and the teen-screaming came through loud and clear too. The view of the main screen was partially blocked because of the altitude of the box.

As for the concert, I was actually quite impressed. It was like listening to a megamix of numerous songs you hear every day on KISS. There were quite a few guests (like Sean Kingston) and they all put on a very good show, lasers, lights, videos, aerial hearts/globes, and all. Whoever is behind this production is quite the mastermind, as it is very well-tailored to the demographic of interest. During Bieber's performance, there were quite a few video pics of him as a very young boy plus actual videos of him performing songs at earlier ages, including singing the alphabet song at probably 4-5 years old (I'm guessing). The audience seemed to eat up all of this big-time! The young musicians (instrumentalists) involved in the production are also top-notch, which is another credit to the masterminds behind this production.

Finally, I've seen some of Bieber's performances on TV and they weren't good at all. However, he sounded studio-quality fine most of the time last night. It could be that there was some lip-syncing involved though, as a certain amount of the background music was definitely "canned", as they say.

In the future, his act and its gimmicks will definitely have to change to be sustainable. But for now, Bieber and the machine behind him definitely have a great money-making formula!

As for the old 'puter, she's back to working for now but I am having recurring problems so I think I need to give it the equivalent of a resurrection by killing it and re-installing everything. It has let me down one-too-many times, when least expected.

As for reading, lately most of my reading (and research) focuses on health-related matters. However, I should really mix it up from time to time! :-)

P.S. Did you get tickets to the Piranha 3D movie?
