Witt is the first woman figure skater since Sonja Henie to win gold medals in two consecutive Winter Olympic Games.

1980 - USA Olympic hockey team beats Finland 4-2 to win the Gold Medal in the XIII Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, New York. The team made up of amateur and collegiate players and led by coach Herb Brooks became known as The Miracle On Ice after defeating the Soviet team, which was considered the best hockey team in the world in the semi-finals.
