On This Day In Canadian History....

1984 - Marc Garneau becomes first Canadian in space on board Space Shuttle Challenger Flight STS-41G; during the eight day mission he will travel a total of 3.4 million miles around the Earth in 133 orbits; the crew will deploy the Earth Radiation Budget Satellite, conduct scientific observations of the earth with the OSTA-3 pallet and Large Format Camera (LFC), and demonstrate potential satellite refueling with an EVA and associated hydrazine transfer. Mission duration is 197 hours 23 minutes.
