1864 - Joe Montferrand dies in Montreal, where he owned a tavern and restaurant; once billed by PT Barnum as the Strongest Man in the World; grew up in the Ottawa Valley where he was known for taking on 20 English troublemakers at once; he is commemorated in the folk song, Mufferaw Joe.
