On This Day In Canadian History...

1697 - France and England sign Treaty of Ryswick, under which England, Spain, Holland and the Holy Roman Emperor make peace with France at the end of the War of the Grand Alliance (King William's War); all places taken during the war to be mutually restored; France returns York Factory to the Hudson's Bay Company and Newfoundland to the British in exchange for Acadia.
