It's the Civic Holiday Weekend. Depending on where you live you'll be celebrating the life and achievements of John G. Simcoe, the 1st Lt-Governor of Ontario (Toronto); Joseph Brant, Mohawk Chief and hero of the War of 1812 (Brantford); Colonel R. S. McLaughlin, brought General Motors to Oshawa; Alexander MacKenzie, Canada's 2nd P.M. (Sarnia) and of course, here in Ottawa we're celebrating Colonel John By, best remembered for supervising the construction of the Rideau Canal

Good early morning Angel vs. DeVil, Critic, Phil, Mr. Red, Connie, Betty-Anne, PitchingIn, Stephanie, J.P., Sweetdreams, Typhoon, et al.

Well, the BEP tickets contest is over but I think that if you show up later today at ScotiaBank Place, you will probably find Jenny "From The Block" there and a chance to win some BEP CDs or something (listen early in the day to find out if it will be worth the trip).

@ Connie ... good to see you back. I didn't know that you were going back to school in the fall. What are you studying now? Note that you don't need to apologize for not contributing. The community-watch here just likes to know that all its peeps are safe and sound, and alive and well! ;-)

@ Mr. Red ... Just noticed today that my Bluesfest pic is your official Facebook pic. Glad to get some official recognition for my amateur photography! On another topic, have you ever contemplated how you would react to encountering the "anti-matter to your matter," or the "anti-biotic to your pro-biotic"? Behold these two possible mortal enemies lurking out there, ready to pounce at any time:
male and female.

For some reason, this possible meeting conjures up images from the original Star Trek series episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" ...
See link 1 or link 2 for descriptions.

good morning all, my head hurts. Final score last nite was Wine-2, Phil-0. More water and powerade this morning and some shut eye.

Mr. E. - check out the CHEZ Blog because it seems like only you and I have survived some blog epidemic here (whereas Can Opener are the only two living on the Chez Blog). Its freaking me out man! Like:
- is there a power failure in Ottawa
- did everyone leave town this weekend but me
- did everyone head out early to see BEP
- or are the bloggers not wasting their time here because there are no points this weekend.
I think I need another glass of wine.

Good Afternoon Mr. Red, Mr. E., Phil & all :-)

Have a good long weekend all. Back to work for me tomorrow. I work across the river and already had Saint Johnny the Baptist day off.

@ Phil - LOL! Yesterday was like a ghost town in my area (great when you need to pick up a few grocery specials). It's more lively tonight though. Keep up your match against the wine; you have keep trying until you win!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend:-)

You guys are lucky this time. The Peas concert bonus code isn't the usual compound type (apparently KISS wasn't allowed to hand anything out at the venue).

Enter bep for 2500 pts.

Thanks Mr. E!

@ Mr. E

I am currently not studing anything. I am transitioning from grauating from Algonquin College in May and starting at Ottawa University in the Fall. I will be studying Accounting in the next two years (possibly three depending on how many courses I take each semester).

I say sorry because it lets the community know that I will be back in action soon. This blog seems to run itself...everyone contributes and Mr. Red or Angel updates the main page. It's perfect!

You're welcome, Betty Anne. It should give you a chance to win a BEP CD library too.

A couple good deals that end tomorrow ...

Metro (grocery store) has a Fresh-to-Go special for a large 3-topping pizza, two 454g deli salads (potato, mac'n'cheese, or coleslaw), plus a 2-litre soft drink for $9.99 + tax.

Shoppers Drugmart - spend $75 (before tax) and receive a $20 gas card free. They have 25% off Life brand vitamins and health products plus other specials that can work out to a pretty good savings. Use your Shoppers Optimum card and get even more benefit out of this deal.

@ Connie - good for you! Accounting can be a very lucrative field. One of my good friend's daughters went into that field and is making more money than her dad [and me :-( ]! Plus she worked for a while in New Zealand for the same company and I think she even met her hubby while working there. So, who knows what good luck you may have in the future by taking this career path. ;-)

Re: Metro special - I forgot to add that it may not be available at all locations (check your local flyer; we went to the Bell's Corners location). Also, the pizza is cooked and ready to eat (the same pizza would be probably be more than $20 by itself anywhere else).

Thank you so much Mr. E.! :-)

Mr. E. said...

You're welcome, of course, Angel. Good luck in the contest!

BTW, did you catch the humour in my early post about Mr. Red's possible mortal enemies? You, Phil, and perhaps Critic are the few that may fully appreciate it. Star Trek fans may enjoy it even more! ;-)

@Mr. E. :-)

I just checked that out now, lmao! That's really funny!

@ Angel ... your laughter made it very worthwhile! ;-)
