On This Day In Canadian History....

1945 - Ottawa sends out first Family Allowance payments to Canadian families; critics call it a waste of money, say it will encourage poor families to have more children.

Good morning all, big decision to make today about ditching my ISP which consistently provides inconsistent connectivity.

Good Morning Critic and everyone,

I answered the new question, there should be a sidelines (didn't pay) option though ;)

Here's hoping for free pizza today, if not I had a dream of winning $50,000 last night?! What's up with that? Does anyone use dream books?

Just a Girl said...

@ Pharmerphil

I'm not sure where you live, maybe rural area, but ask your neighbours who their ISP's are. I used to be with BELL (in the city) and they sucked bum, lol, switched to Rogers and no complaints. However as with anything it seems to be hit and miss for certain people.

pharmerphil said...

@Stephanie - rural guy and there are not alot of ISPs but trust me I have done my research but the problem is being locked into a contract. However the Pres of the company recentlty acknowledged that his company was not providing the service that we are being billed for given the tech issues that they cannot overcome. I drew the line in the sand with yesterday being the drop dead date so now I either have to put up or jump ship with all the change of email grief that comes with that.

Not having much luck with the free pizza link today. "Milano's is currently closed on JustEat.ca"

Good afternoon all

Mmmmmm ... free pizza! Dough!

It took a while for them to open up today but it was worth it. Thanks again, PitchingIn!

Happy Free Pizza DAY!!!

Link opened to Milano Baxter at 12:10, order completed by 12:12. Arrived for pick-up by 12:25, order ready by 12:40.

Have to stop typing now, getting sauce on the keyboard :)

My wife just got her free pizza at work.

Stephanie, did you get yours yet?

critic said...

The pizza was perfect this time, hot and fresh and being free, made it just a bit sweeter! Complete turn around from last time when it came cold and soggy.

Thanks PitchingIn.

PitchingIn said...

Stephanie,
You're not the only one...
I didn't get any pizza either...
Milano's just wasn't on list of restaurants!
Could it be our postal code?
Mine is K1P...
I'm scratching my head.
I just don't get it.

You guys, I'm jealous! lol
It's not fair... ;)

Mr. E. said...

PitchingIn, that's too bad that you can't get free pizza especially after you alerted us about it! If there is a Milano Pizza shop not too far away from you, you could enter its postal code and try to order one for pick-up like Critic did.

Just a Girl said...

@Mr. E - Yes, I noticed it took Milano’s Sunnyside a while to open up as well. And I was able to get my pizza, YAY.

@ Everyone - How much do you tip on such a deal?

@ Pitchingin - My postal code is K1R but I noticed I had to select the Milano’s restaurant or scroll further down the website. AND Thank You VERY much for the tip!

@ Stephanie

Glad to hear you got yours. Delicious, wasn't it? ;-)

As for tip, the online menu has a tip option of $1 (for credit card payments) so that's a reasonable guide. The pizza is valued at $8.85 so $1 is slightly more than 11%; $1.30 is closer to the customary 15%.

@Mr. E

I tipped the guy $2 which for a free and delivered pizza I thought was too little. But now I feel better about my amount. I never know what to tip; I'm bad at math (not afraid to state my faults, although could use a calculator;) and I'm cheap (another fault? lol)

Mr. E. said...

@ Stephanie

You were generous today! $2 = 22.6% ... that's the type of tip movie stars give! lol!

P.S. If you're using Windows, there is a free calculator app as part of the operating system. Click "Start" in the lower left corner, select "Run" at the bottom of the right column, then type calc in the window and voila, you can calculate away!

Mr. E. said...

P.P.S. A simpler tip for tipping is to use the HST amount on the bill as a guide since it's 13%.

6pm BEP song: Pump It

critic said...

@Mr. E.

Are you guessing the BEP song again?

Mr. E. said...

@ Critic

I figured it was time for Pump It to be played again and I was right! (interesting use of Dick Dale's classic "Misirlou")

critic said...

@Mr. E.

Well ya takes yur chances, just like in Pulp Fiction. That's where I know Dick's work from

Mr. E. said...

@ Phil ... that was damn fast for somebody with bad internet! Did you get a new provider today? I got a kick out of your exchange with Kitten today on RadioWall ... did your son fall down the well again?! ;-)

@ Critic ... yeah, Quentin gave Dick a big boost by including that song in his movie. Little risk involved in the guess as a neighbour has all but abandoned her account so it gets used "experimentally" some times!

critic said...

@Mr. E.

Having a spare account would be handy to have would.

pharmerphil said...

@Mr.E. - it is just one of those quirky things. Have service right now but in the next 5 mins could lose it for the rest of the night. Hit and Miss, hit and miss I say.

Mr. E. said...

@ Phil ... I had mentioned some time back that you might want to consult Mr. Red about his Blackberry access to the 'net. It might be a little pricey but he seems to be able to connect from all over BFN. Maybe on your next public dinner date? (Ha ha ... couldn't resist!)

P.S. Did you check out the pics in my posts around 9pm yesterday?

pharmerphil said...

@Mr.E. - I had no access last night at all but will go back and check now

pharmerphil said...

@Mr. E. - just saw the pics they are great. Would love to see more of the Sauce Boss pics- you must have been standing right next to 54mods when you took them. Email: celticsea@ripnet.com.
Also are you going to the volunteer party Friday night?
@Mr. Red - are you?

Mr. E. said...

@ Phil ... yes, my wife and I will be at the party on Friday; we'll keep our eyes open to spot you (and Mr. Red, if he recuperates in time!).

Watch your email box for more pics. The great thing about the blues acts on Sunday is that you could easily get up close for some super pics (my camera also seems to work best during daylight hours). I might have seen 54mods without realizing it (I remember seeing someone wearing a CHEZ t-shirt so that may have been him).

Jimmy Fallon: Crowded House!!!

Mr. E. said...

Well, it looks like Jeff was misinformed about the 8 BEP songs per day. We might be lucky to get 6 today if one is slotted for the 11pm hour.

Has anybody here been lucky enough to win BEP tickets in this daily draw contest? If there are people winning, it seems to be a well-kept secret.

11pm BEP song: Rock That Body

My guesses are usually crap but I'm two for two tonight!

@ Critic ... you can hit the sack early. "They" say that sleep before midnight is more valuable healthwise than that after midnight. I never listen to "them" however!

J.P. said...

Not me, I'm still trying.

critic said...

@Mr. E.
Can't go to bed early. I've got to do my "listen live buttons" around midnight.

Did you notice the two late night codes? The first one was actually reward for peeps yacking about McCully's topic on Facebook.

Who are "they" and "them" exactly?

YAY - I finally contributed!

Mr. E:
Thanks Mr. E., That was a good idea. I'll try it next week.

Good night everybody.

p.s.
Critic:
That's happened to me a few times, I let my Listen Live times get way outta hand and I just skipped a day so I could do them at "normal" times again!!!
You're determined! ;)
A demain.

Mr. E. said...

@ Critic

Yep, got them both from the CHEZ's Facebook (you posted them faster than I could).

'They' and 'them' are the health experts ... I probably heard that on the "Dr. Oz" or "The Doctors" TV programs. There is wisdom to it, whether or not you agree with those doctors.

I have to laugh about your "listen live" events! My times migrate all over the day as I frequently forget to enter them in a timely manner. Recently, I used to be on a near midnight schedule until I fell asleep early one night. Then they went to 6am, then 7am, then 10am, then noon. I've probably lapsed at least 3 or 4 days since they started the "listen live" event points.

My Click times were all threw the day until they shutdown the web sites for all the stations. The only good thing about that weekend was it forced the clicks to be synchronized.
