On This Day In Canadian History....
1923 - Frederick Banting & J. J. R. Macleod of the University of Toronto jointly win the Nobel Prize for Medicine for their discovery of the hormone insulin, which was to save the lives of millions of diabetics. Banting, whose idea launched the research, shares the prize money with Charles Best. Macleod, who supervised the research, shares with J.B. Collip. They are the first Canadians to win a Nobel Prize.
