On This Day In Canadian History....

1910 - Parliament passes a Bill setting up the Royal Canadian Navy. 
Department of Naval Service to be administered by the Minister of Marine and Fisheries; the Act provides for a permanent Canadian Naval Service, a naval reserve to be called up in emergencies, a volunteer reserve and a naval college in Halifax and the construction of five cruisers and six destroyers.
