On This Day In Canadian History....

1752 - John Bushell starts publishing Canada's first regular newspaper, the Halifax Gazette; until 1766, when it is shut down for criticizing the Stamp Act and replaced by the more official Nova Scotia Gazette. As today's Halifax Chronicle-Herald, it is the oldest existing newspaper in North America.
