On This Day In Canadian History....

1976 - House of Commons votes to abolish the death penalty with a six-vote majority. The last two people executed in Canada were Ronald Turpin and Arthur Lucas, convicted in separate murders, at 12:02 am on December 11, 1962 at the Don Jail in Toronto.
