On This Day In Canadian History....

1832 - Irish Immigrants arrive aboard the sailing ship Carrick in Quebec City from Dublin; a government inspector lets the vessel leave the quarantine station, but some of the Irish have Asian cholera, which soon spreads in Quebec and Montreal; the resulting epidemic kills about 6,000 people in Lower Canada.
