1910 - HMS Niobe arrives in Halifax as a gift from the British Royal Navy to become the first cruiser of the Royal Canadian Navy. Classes at the Royal Naval College of Canada were held on HMCS Niobe, to train the cadets. She was scrapped in the 1920s after being damaged in the 1917 Halifax Explosion
