As per the CHEZ 106 HOSERS Trivia Team @ The Champions For Children World Trivia Night, I'm already on a team. I've been a member of the Puzzles NTN Trivia Sports Bar team since we entered for the first time in 1996
We missed the 1st year in 1995, because almost nobody knew about it, only a couple of dozen teams entered that year. Over 200+ teams of 10 have entered each year for the better part of the last decade.
We have historically come in the top 10 (last year we tied for 9th place) and have won twice, in 1997 and 1999. We were the first team to win the $10,000 Grand Prize when Champions For Children picked up BMO as a major corporate sponsor, they supplied the grand prize $$. We proudly kicked back some of our winnings to the charity, Champions For Children
Couple pieces of Trivia about the World Trivia Night competition...
1) Traditionally the answer to the first question of the night is ALWAYS Pierre Elliot Trudeau
2) I met Carter Brown for the first time several years ago when he, Sandra, and the Boyle still worked at Hot 89.9. He was a last minute replacement for a team member who got sick...he is a cousin to one of our former teammates...she and her husband are now living in Australia.
3) There are 3 teams who enter every year who's core member play or have played NTN Satellite Trivia on a regular basis at Puzzles, Puzzles NTN Sports Bar, The Usual Suspects and The Bank Dicks

ReplyDeleteYeah, we still have a team, but we're debating whether or not to change our team name. I myself am on the fence, some members think we should change it, while others see a historical significance in our name team name, especially since we've won twice and are listed as such in the Champions For Children website archives.
For the record all of us meet every Tuesday evening at Busters (formerly Buffalo Charlies) in Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre. Any one of you peeps are more than welcome to drop by, grab a NTN Playmaker machine and play with us or against us :-)
