On This Day In Canadian History....

1980 - Parliament passes National Anthem Act, declaring Calixa Lavallée's 'O Canada' the national anthem replacing God Save the Queen; allows for minor changes to Robert Stanley Weir's English lyrics.

  1. Hello from Bancroft, Ontario. Glad that the weather cleared up in time on Saturday for the big birthdays celebration. I may not be as active as usual but have been setting my laptop on record through my sister's wireless just in case. Back to Ottawa Sunday afternoon. Have a great day.

  12. Probably. It changes order when I get a "Conflicting Edit" message and I got one this time.

  23. @ Mr. E

I feel your impatience, rule of thumb on waiting time for women to get ready to go anywhere...double it and add 30.

Wait! I think that may be the rule of thumb for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit?

    @ Mr. Red,

I resent that comment. Women can be ready and waiting for their men sometimes.

    @ Mr. E,

    Have patience!

Relax, it's a joke...the actual rule of thumb is, double it and add infinity :-)

    @ Mr. Red,

I know it's a joke...but us women, (i.e. Angel and me) have to stick up for ourselves, right, Angel?

Besides, I count myself one of those LATE women, somedays. But men can be late also. :)

I always pictured your icon as being from the short-lived The Critic cartoon which had some overlap with Groening's The Simpsons. Do you remember it? "It stinks!" was the catch phrase. :-)

  70. @Mr. E.

An animated version of Jon Lovitz is even more unappealing than the original. I wanted my avatar to convey me friendly, cheerful, intelligent and exciting personality. Therefore Waldorf is a perfect choice for my avatar. Come on, look at that face. Doesn't it just radiate with joy!

Good night, all! I am going to bed. Got to get up early in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  76. @ Critic

It's pretty good avatar as is (I even forgot what to call it and used "icon", haha!), just not what I expected. Also, Lovitz wasn't that bad! Some of his stuff on SNL was quite entertaining back in the day. He seems to have dropped off the face of the planet in recent years though, and he's not the type of guy to likely have a comeback (probably for the best!).

    ReplyDelete
  77. Connie, you can't leave now! You're one of the few that can out-type Critic and stop him from "world" domination here on the Kiss Blog! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Connie, case in point: the last word was a simple 5-letter word. How did Critic beat us? The world may never know. And I'm not a run-of-the-mill, two-finger typist either; I routinely use both index fingers and middle fingers (sometimes for things other than typing too)! :-\

  84. More weirdness! My post split replicated!

    ReplyDelete
  85. This is weird but I found another code that works: Party

    ReplyDelete
  86. Connie will be kicking herself tomorrow morning because the last bonus code is the one you need to enter to win ... little-known fact. ;-)

@ Critic ... another weird but at least beneficial discovery! I just tried itand it did give 100 points but NOT an extra entry though. Very strange!

    ReplyDelete
  87. @Critic

That is weird, the code "party" works but it doesn't give us an entry even though is says it does! We usually have 51 entries if we don't miss any codes so we should have 52 entries.

    ReplyDelete
  88. @ Critic/Angel ... we could complain about that but the complaint would raise questions! LOL! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  89. The code could be for contest other than Gaga. There's the What a Girl Wants contest. Maybe it went there.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Good night peeps. Don't forget to enter your codes before midnight. Time is quickly running out!

As Angel mentioned, you should have 51 entries in the draw if you entered every code in the contest, broken down as follows:

    5 early-bird (Mon-Fri) [expired if missed]
    1 Ottawa Sun
    9 Weekend (Fri)
    18 Weekend (Sat)
    18 Weekend (Sun)

Good luck tracking down missing codes at this late hour! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  91. @ Critic ... that's exactly where it went! Great observation!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Well that was exciting! Time to for bed.
    Goodnight Mr. E. and angel.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Well, I'm still up. That surprise "party" code discovered by Critic must have upset my sleep patterns (haha!).

While it wasn't clear how KISS would play out the "What a Girl Wants" contest, I'm surprised that it is going the way of most every other contest they have (i.e., into a "winning weekend"). I'm puzzled as to why they decided to price it at 2000 points per entry when every other "winning weekend" contest entry seems to have priced entries @ 1000 points. In effect, they are telling you to don't bother buying entries @ 2000 points each since 51 entries will be available for free very shortly.
